KIMBERLY, Wis. – More than 20 million American children and adults, or 7 percent of the U.S. population, live with diabetes. Nearly one-third of Americans are unaware they have the disease.

The good news is that by taking control of diet and exercise, people can prevent the disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin.

Dr. Meena Vir, a family medicine physician with the Affinity Medical Group Clinic in Little Chute, will give a presentation on what you can do to prevent diabetes. The free talk begins at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28 at the Heart of the Valley YMCA, 225 W. Kennedy Ave., Kimberly. An open discussion will take place following the presentation. Healthy snacks will be provided.

To register for the free event contact Affinity NurseDirct at 1-800-362-9900, or go online at www.affinityhealth.org.
